7. The new emperor Caligula sent for Agrippa, the grandson of Herod I., who had been put into prison under Tiberius, and appointed him king in the tetrarchies of Philip and Lysanias, Jos. Ant. 18,6,10. Agrippa became the new great white hope of the Jews.
8. When Herodias urged her husband Herod Antipas to aspire to a king’s crown, which her brother Agrippa already owned, Herod Antipas was exiled to Gaul. Herodias followed him into exile.
9. In as early as 36 CE, after eventful fighting, the status quo in the conflict between the Romans and Parthians was restored and in 37 CE, probably under the new emperor Caligula, it was sealed at the “Euphrates” conference, Jos. Ant. 18, 4, 5.
