The difficulty with the interpretation of sources is to separate historical facts from poetic fiction. Today it is again standard practice to understand the sources as historical information the same as other historical texts from Antiquity.

But my point of view is to interpret the gospels as antique Christian poetry. I base this on the latest findings by classical philology about poetry, poets, audiences and the scholarly literary discourse in the era of Augustus and in the 1st century CE.

In addition to the biblical literature of the New Testament I take into account information in the writings of Josephus and sometimes the stories of the Old Testament.
