II 3 Roman globalisation
2.3.1.
The traditional narrative about Rome’s influence on Judaism and early Christianity states:

the Romans conquered Palestine in the course of their imperial expansion eastwards and subjected the former Jewish cultural area to their political dominance.
The Romans came as military conquerors and executed Jesus; they were able to exert little influence on the ancient Jewish culture or the newly emerging faith of Christianity.
2.3.2.
My thesis on Rome’s influence on Judaism and early Christianity:
Rome’s military and political influence in Judea, Samaria and Galilee is well known; its cultural influence on Judaism and Christianity is seriously underestimated.
